This guy is what I think of when I hear the stupid American joke in movies, he thinks that by militarizing the border we will be safe yet we will be closing off the freedom to live the way we want. if he thinks this is the greatest country in the world why not share it with the world? fixing the immigration system is necessary but his view is "suicide by cop" in other words we will not grow worldly but shrink as a nation to fearful children hiding behind our military borders. as to what he thinks of a president who can't or won't salute the flag is ridiculous, the flag is a symbol like the eagle or the star if you want to make a statement you use a symbol that is all people that put down flag burners forget that the flag represents freedom and freedom that forbids burning of the flag in protest is limited freedom. better to not salute the flag than lie about your reverence to a symbol. his comment on 911 is disturbing to me I was an adult during that very incident and had considered military service before hand afterword I nearly ran to the recruiters had it not been for medical reasons I would have been serving in Afghanistan immediately following the attacks and been proud to put an end to the tyranny. we should not go to war lightly but to say that we should never have left on a campaign for justice is to say that criminality outside the U.S. is not our concern. I don't care about your feelings on why we went to Iraq Afghanistan to me was justified and has been showing a success and commitment to our ideals.

Most people who are illegal immigrants are Mexicans, and they don’t pose much of a threat to national security. They’re just trying to support their families back home since the economic conditions in their home countries are terrible; I bet it’s not much different than what his grandfather and family were doing, except back then immigrating only was as long as the trip and a few hours once the ship arrived. For those who want to come legally into the United States, a work visa could take months, even years to process. Illegal immigrants are those who take the jobs no one wants on farms, sanitation facilities, services and they pay taxes local, state and federal taxes. Those who are working “above the table” contribute to the Social Security fund. They pay taxes using a ITINs number that is only used for tax filing purposes. Oh and by the way, 9/11… weren’t those people here legally?
The United States does not have an official language, and I’m sure all those that live here have made an effort to learn to speak it because they know it’s in their best interest.
I agree our soldiers should come home, but not to set up base around the boarder; it would be a waste of time and resources to do so. There are reasons for some of our bases around the world. Their presence in other nations creates an alliance, we aren’t the strongest because we keep to ourselves—North Korea? China some hundred years ago?—we’re the strongest because we keep relations with other nations on peaceful grounds, we also provide aid when they are struggling so in case we ever need help they’ll be willing to return the favor. Some of the military presence in the Middle East for example is to protect concession and make sure that no attacks are made on the oil rigs which would devastate the economy here.
Just because Obama didn’t salute the flag, doesn’t mean he doesn’t love the United States. He’s making an incredible effort to get the economy back on track. Being over patriotic can be an issue, looking back at McCarthy and his efforts to stop all things that weren’t capitalist and un-American, whatever that means; modesty is the best policy… or was it honesty? Btw U-S-A!
He makes a good point on urging voters to make an effort to talk to their politicians to tell them what is important to them. This factor is overlooked in society and should be changed. With the internet it is easy to get into contact with local and state government with just an email.
Bill just seems like some dude with an opinion, exercising his first amendment the best he can and using the internet to get his point across. Good for him.

This guy is an ignorant asshole. I don’t really understand what Mr. Balsamico is trying to say during this entire video. He has very strong opinions, but he does not back up any of his opinions with reasons. He basically just hates all illegal immigrants for the simple fact that they are illegal immigrants.
So this guy starts his video off by saying that his grandfather was a great man and he is so proud to be his descendent and everything. And the only reason that he loves his grandpa is because he came into the country through Ellis Island legally. He says his grandfather worked very hard for all of his money to support his family and what not. Do Illegal immigrants not work hard for their money? I think out of any employees in the United States, jobs that typically illegal immigrants get are the jobs that you need to work very hard for. These jobs are physically tolling on your body, mostly out in the sun and subject to the elements. And these jobs pay less money for the same amount of work that American citizens do. If that isn’t hard work for your family and yourself, I don’t know what is.
And taking all of our troops and bases from multiple countries around the world and setting them up along our borders. I agree that this would secure our borders, but this guy does not think about the consequences of pulling out the troops. Aren’t these bases set up around the world for a reason? After World War II, the United States was allowed to keep a certain number of troops in enemy countries so they could monitor them as a safety precaution. Now Mr. Balsamico wants to take all of these bases and bring them back here to hold down the borders from illegal immigrants. What exactly does he think these illegal immigrants are doing in this country as a threat to us? Why do we need to have military presence? How are illegal immigrants “terrorists” like the 9/11 terrorists? How can you possibly compare Mexicans who hop the border to get a job and get a better life, to the people who hijacked airplanes and crashed them into buildings to kill more than 2,000 people? This is a completely ridiculous comparison.
All in all, this guy has absolutely no right to be making a video saying the things he was saying. He seems to have no reason for having any of the opinions he has. Why does he even make this video? Doesn’t this guy have better stuff to do with his life than record himself in front of a neon sign trashing all people that aren’t like him? I really don’t understand why this video exists.

It’s funny that Sam posted this video because I’ve actually been talking about legal and illegal immigration in one of my Spanish classes. In Washington D.C., California, and some other states as well, they held a rally, right before Obama signed the new bill for Healthcare, to legalize immigration in the United States. Before Obama became president, he had promised to give more benefits to immigrants and to include them in the new healthcare bill and to allow them the right to become citizens. These immigrants come to this country to live a better life. Some come from oppression and military dictators and this is their one chance to make things better for themselves and for their families. He also mentions how they have their children here, but, given the opportunity, wouldn’t you want your children to live a better life than what you had? Most of the time these children even get separated from their parents and are put into foster care or are looked after by close friends or other family members. It’s not their choice to not be citizens.
What this man is saying is that since his grandfather came over from Italy and went through the immigration process and lived the “American Dream” that he has the authority and knowledge to berate illegal immigrants who are in their own way doing exactly what his grandfather did before. If he thinks that reinforcing and enhancing the security measures around the borders is going to decrease drug trafficking and illegal immigrants, he’s off his rocker. I think that it might even make drugs more prevalent because people are going to find more ways to get them across. I went to his website and he justifies his business name by saying that “casa” is the same in Spanish and Italian. He says, “I can not help it that the Spanish use is the same name for house” misspelling the word ‘cannot’ in the process and also butchering the pronunciation of the Italian language. He goes on to say, “I sold the business using my legal Italian Heritage.” While I agree that the naturalization process of immigrants could be revised a little, the way that this knucklehead proposes it makes him come off as a hateful piece of work. I can understand that he feels as though “his” country is being taken out from under his very own feet, but he’s being overly dramatic and a little ridiculous about the whole matter. His mention of the troops coming home was completely unrealistic. In this day and age it is a necessary evil to keep a global military presence. While unfortunate, it can be a good thing, as seen with the rapid responses to the 2004 tsunami in the Indian Ocean and more recently with the earthquakes in Haiti and Chili. If he’s really concerned with national security, removing the troops from their current stations across the would be the worst possible thing to do.

I think this is just a guy with an opinion. He brings up some valid points and then says some other things that aren’t so great.
Illegal immigration is a HUGE problem and needs to be fixed because they get to live here and reap the benefits of the country CITIZENS are paying for. That’s not fair at all to the hard-working middle class who carries the burden of this country and then can’t even get decent health care. Maybe if there weren’t so many illegal immigrants feeding off our system we’d actually have better funds to make healthcare (as well as other things) better in this country. I understand they have it rough in their country and this is the land of opportunity, but you’ve got to play by the rules – otherwise, get lost. To control this, I’m not sure that bringing ALL our troops back from the middle east would be the greatest idea. Even if the war at this point seems to be a loosing battle, it is a battle going on nonetheless so tactically that would be suicide.
When he talks about making ultimatums to our congressmen and government leaders, he makes a good point. This is a democracy and our leaders are suppose to represent the interests of the people. When they don’t, fire them. Politician stuff their wallets time after time, giving themselves raises, enjoy the benefits of the best healthcare in the world, have an awesome retirement plan and basically are living the life. How bout they step into our shoes for once? How it feels to live paycheck to paycheck or wonder if you’re going to have to drop out of school because you can’t afford it. There are so many things wrong with this picture. If politicians stopped giving themselves raises in the midst of the worst economic crisis since the great depression and gave money back to the struggling middle and lower classes, the economy would recover and there’d be money for a better healthcare system.

I never really understood how people thing illegal immigrants are taking all of "our" jobs. First of all, in my town, the immigrants do the work that no one else wants. They do landscaping, construction, and work at McDonald's. These are all jobs that no one wants, and my whole street (besides us) gets their lawn mowed and their hedges chopped at a very low price. They do not have much to complain about there.
Second, what makes them "our" jobs? That we happen to be born here?
Using that same logic, does that mean I should only take a job in the state, or even the town I was born in? If I move to Pittsburgh, for example, does that mean I am taking away a job of a Pennsylvanian?
Recently there were recent photos released of Elian Gonzalez, the young Cuban boy found on an inner tube trying to immigrate to American ten years ago. His mother had drowned trying to get to this country. It makes me think that anyone who risks their lives to get here must really want to be here. It seems unfair to turn them away just because I was lucky enough to be already born here.

I really have no idea what to think about this guy. I don't think any of his ideas really stand true, especially his terrorism ideas. Clearly fighting terrorism in foreign countries is a proactive approach to fighting terrorism. It sounds like he did not come up with anything he said. He is clearly reading, and it sounds like it is the first time he is reading this script or whatever it is. So what I have decided to name this guy of the options between a bigot, a patriot, a knucklehead, or a guy with an opinion… I am going to have to go with knucklehead. And not in the same way that sam richards is a knucklehead, because he is indeed a knucklehead, he is the type of knucklehead that does not really stand for anything, and the only things he does stand for are pretty baseless, but he justifies them in his own head.
I did a little research on him, and found his website and found a quote from it that says:
"Regarding the origin of our name…
For 23 years, I was in the Ice Business and when I sold the business using my legal Italian Heritage, came the name
“Casa D' Ice” for “House of Ice”. I can not help it that the Spanish use is the same name for house. So, for those
who question my use of "Casa" when I am against illegal aliens, I hope this explains it. "
I am pretty sure that this verifies that the dude is really really dumb. Maybe he can make a cool ice sculpture, or has a sweet bar or whatever his business is, but he is seriously ignorant. One thing that I have really learned from following some blogs and living with sixty other people is that no one, seriously no one, could give a shit about anyone else's opinions on stuff like this. I literally could not care, even a little bit, how this guy feels about illegal aliens. If he wants to go out and do something about what he sees as a problem, good for him but he does not need to share it with anyone else.
To be honest, I could not really even focus on his ideas because of how dumb he looked and sounded, no one is going to take your complaints seriously if you look and sound so dumb buddy. Maybe he should take a lesson from sam richards and carry some prayer beads while he talks and say every 15 seconds, im gonna die one day so who really cares about this lecture. Anyways, whatever this guy is, my vote is to get his annoying voice and face off of the blog and off of the internet

I think that this guy is just a knuckle head. He is obviously not well educated enough to be making the claims he is. I dont think he has any knowledge of foreign relations or domestic affairs at all. What he doesnt realize is that the reality of the situation is that the illegal immigrants that make life so difficult for all the rest of us are actually doing a majority of the most difficult jobs to fill. There is a movie called A Day without a Mexican that documents the effect that every illegal immigrant suddenly vanishing would have on the world as we know it. It takes place in California and shows what would happen if all the Mexicans working in California suddenly stopped existing. The result of all the Mexican workers mysteriously stopping work is that cars remain parked in the streets, the crops remain unpicked, and buildings go unclean. The people in California dont realize that the source of all this new found social frustration is the nonexistence of the Mexicans who used to work all these places.

I don’t know exactly what I would label this guy, but I definitely think he raises some interesting points. I do agree that there are loopholes for legal immigration through marriage and having children that might not necessarily be good for this country. When I was younger, my friends and I had au pairs, and it was unbelievable how many au pairs were only interested in being au pairs in the United States of America not for any love of taking care of children, but because their job of being an au pair with a working status visa was their ticket into this country.
I had many au pairs over the years, and once the au pairs were here, all but 1 of my au pairs (who was the only one I liked because she was the only person interested in taking care of my brother and me) made it their goal to meet an American guy (it didn’t matter how gross they were as a person, but they needed to be American). With the au pair program, each au pair had a year to nanny in America, so essentially, all of the au pairs had 1 year to find a guy to marry. Once the year was up for each au pair, I don’t know how they did it, but they somehow managed to stay under the radar and stay in this country, even if they hadn’t found guys. I guess they were able to do it because they stayed with their other au pair friends who were legally here because of a guy they had met.
I think that this system of immigration is bad for our country if you want to promote the hard-working American stereotype of past immigrants (like the man talked about with his Italian ancestors who immigrated to America). From my personal experience and observations, the majority of the au pairs who come over to this country are lazy, don’t want to work for anything, and then are jealous that you have more than them. And because they are lazy and don’t want to take the easy way out, they are trashy and would rather find dirtball guys to get them into this country rather than working their way into becoming a citizen. (I guess you can tell how much I like most of my au pairs).
I also completely agree with this man’s feelings about Obama saluting the American flag. Because he is the president of the United States, he should have pride in our country and our flag. Similar to how I have loyalty to my best friend and will stick up for her no matter how wrong she is, the president of the United States should salute our flag, be proud of our country, and support our country’s actions. Now we as individuals don’t have to support our country’s actions (like the war in Iraq) since we are not the president. I don’t care if you don’t support the war, but the reality is, our American troops are dying. They wear the American flag on our sleeve, and they’re dying for us, in the name of America. Regardless of whether you believe in what they’re fighting for (hey, not even all of them believe in what they’re fighting for), you should unconditionally support our troops and our veterans because of the many hardships they have endured in the name of America.

When I first saw this video, I was shocked. I can not believe this guy actually thinks his ideas would work. First off, it's annoying that the guy keeps trying to advertise his business when it has nothing to do with what he is talking about. I am pretty sure that the country is loosing money due to illegal immigrants and I am not saying that this is an important issue, but honestly some immigrants can't afford to become legal citizens right away, or they have no idea how to. In no way am I condoning illegal immigrants, but it is someone's life we are talking about and possibly their only shot at a decent life. Immigrants know that it is very hard to find any type of employment if they are not a citizen so maybe it would be a good idea to have places where they can become citizens on the border. Why is this guy so passionate about not allowing illegal immigrants into the country? I mean besides the obviously, but I am wondering if the issue has ever directly affected him. His idea on having border control everywhere is stupid because not along would it isolate the United States and probably effect trade with other countries, it would also be extremely expensive. I understand that this man is just voicing his opinion on some current issues, but honestly, just leave it to the professionals. It would be great to be able to bring home all the soldiers from other countries, but a lot of those people depend on that money they are making to live. Obama wouldn't keep the troops overseas unless there was a really good reason, and I think this guy is just ignorant to the whole situation. There are issues and reasons for everything inside the government that normal civilians aren't aware of and the government is just doing the best to try and protect its people. I also disagree on his stance about citizenship. He is saying that if illegal immigrants have children that those children should not automatically receive citizenship. This guys opinions on illegal immigrants leave little room allowing illegal immigrants to prosper (and with that gaining citizenship). He talks about how a decedent of his was a legal immigrant and that is great that his family member was able to do that and strive, but what if his decedent only had the choice to be an illegal immigrant, would he still have the same stance? It is impossible to 100% put your self in someone else is shoes and understand their situation. People would do anything to protect themselves and their family, and this guy is making it impossible for them to live a decent life.

First of all if we asked every bar owner for their opinions on politics, immigration, etc. I'm sure this would not be as strong worded as some…by saying this I am questioning his credibility. He is undoubtedly a small business owner that takes pride in his progress as a sole proprietor and frowns upon illegal immigrants that are here and get what he would consider a "free ride". Is he bigoted?–Probably not–It seems he endorses legal immigration. I am not condoning his statement from a race relations stand point. I am not supporting him for the fact that I support our position occupying countries overseas to protect our interests abroad…as greedy as these notions are. I'm sure this guy watches the wind bags on Fox noise and mixes their jabbering with some of his own personal views and some how seems qualified enough to broadcast this video. I hope it doesn't make a big splash or we'll have another self proclaimed foreign/ domestic policy wizard on our hands–think Joe the plumber and other blow hards.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Even portly bar owners that want to erect a thirty foot electric fence fence around our borders…while were at we should dig a mote and fill it with alligators for good measure and then we'll keep immigrants out for good–but wait old sport what about the bodies of water on both sides and those five big fucking lakes? I guess we can make foreign trade illegal–we produce enough grain and beef to feed all the U.S.A.ers. and airports are alright because everyone is thoroughly screened. No more boats–that will eliminate castaway immigrants. Problem solved. Thanks dick head. Can you poor me another beer?

This guy is ridiculous. Like, what the hell is he doing? Was this a television commercial or just a random YouTube video that he made to appeal to a new group of customers for an obviously struggling restaurant? Things like this really piss me off. If this guy were really opinionated about the issue of illegal immigration why would he blatantly advertise for his restaurant? I visited the site he told people to visit on the video; they had a blinking banner on the side that would send you an e-mail every time they got a new sign at this dumbass restaurant. If people are visiting your restaurant solely for the signs, you are running an establishment for all of the wrong reasons. And what authority does this blatantly racist man have to post something like this on his website? Fromhttp://casadice.com/: “Regarding the origin of our name…For 23 years, I was in the Ice Business and when I sold the business using my legal Italian Heritage, came the name “Casa D' Ice” for “House of Ice”. I can not help it that the Spanish use is the same name for house. So, for those who question my use of "Casa" when I am against illegal aliens, I hope this explains it.” The answer is no, sir; the blatant ignorance and abuse of power (what little power this attention starved man possesses, I may add) in the tactics that this man employs to send a message and advertise his establishment are repulsive. I am an Italian as well. My great grandfather immigrated to America through Ellis Island “legally” the same way that his great grandfather did. Although my great grandfather was a selfish man-child who stuck all of his debts from his bad habits on his son, he also started with nothing. My grandfather started with nothing, as did my father. In fact, my father had to live in a dark house devoid of furniture because bookies came to his house and took all of my grandfather’s furniture to make up for my great grandfather’s debts. My grandmother was so embarrassed that she kept the blinds closed for two years until my grandfather had the funds to buy furniture again. My grandfather still lives in the very house that he built from the ground up with his bare hands. As the descendant of an Italian immigrant I am repulsed by both the statements that this ignorant bastard made and the fact that I could even be remotely be associated with such a callous human being. My grandfather worked construction and my father still does. I work with him in the summers. Some of the hardest and best workers I’ve ever seen were Mexican immigrants. And if I were in their shoes as a citizen of Mexico looking for a better life in America, I would go through any means necessary to ensure the best for my family and myself.

So, although I may not agree with everything that bill is saying, he is saying things that are of concern for many Americans across the country. I think the funniest thing is that bill is accusing people of Washington in not understanding the logical and reasonable outcomes he has come to decide is right for the country. Are illegal immigrants a problem, increasingly so, but it is not as simple as pulling our troops from over seas and placing them at the Mexican border. For one thing, removing troops from overseas is not as simple as people think. Pulling troops out of an area that we have fought a war in takes time. If all the troops are pulled at once then the area we fought to free would most likely go back to their old ways, meaning that all the American soldiers lives that were lost were lost for no reason. No one wants to lose a life of a fellow American in wars but if it is done it is nice to know that they fought for freedom and that they made a difference. Without making a difference they died for no reason. Pulling troops out takes time. These foreign countries ‘need help’ in getting set up with the government we are placing upon them. Unfortunately this requires many troops to stay in these countries. The same also goes with starting a war, we cannot just end it and bring the troops all back at once, it takes time. Bill is saying the Washington officials are silly, clearly he never took a government or economics class in high school or college if he even went. It’s one of the first things you learn, that bills and actions take years to happen, if they even get passed. It is not as easy as making a decision and it just happening the next day. Congress, the senate, the president and many people need to approve of things before it can happen. It must be written as a proposal, introduced, voted on, passed and then put into action. This is basic knowledge of college students. It seems to me that he is bashing obama and what he is doing because he doesn't like him. Many people don't, I was not an obama supporter myself at first. I do believe he is doing what he thinks is right for the country and what will help lead us in a new direction, because in case you haven’t noticed the country has changed drastically in many ways throughout my lifetime. Morals, media, politics, education, the economy just to name a few have changed so much. The world view of the U.S. is not always the best and I think obama is trying to help get us back to the top, where people of other countries respect us because of our leadership, morals and knowledge and not because we have money and power. Bill is like many other americans, they have valid concerns but if they researched things a little more they’d see things aren’t so easy. Do I have a response or answer for how to deal with illegal immigrants, no I do not. I am not a politician and am not too familiar with laws and possible solutions, but at least I am smart enough to admit that, that is the first step. I do know that I live on long island where Mexican illegal immigrants are much of the population. I went to high school with many immigrants, some illegal and some not. The workers by me, although illegal are extremely hard workers and usually do things that many other people feel too proud to do themselves. I do realize that with healthcare illegal immigrants cause a problem, but I think that the government knows that and when they have less serious issues such as war and recessions to worry about I’m sure they’ll figure it out.
[Reply]
He is trying to tackle some serious issues and he is entitled to his opinion. I applaud that he is not advocating violence and working within our current system. As for the last comment about the president not saluting the flag, that may be a prerequisite for our president to have for many people. People that feel strongly about or history and see the flag as an important symbol of our basic freedoms and the men and women who serve in the military will be very offended by the elected leader not showing respect (or holding it in a place of honor).

I guess this gentleman is just expressing the opinion he is entitled to express. I cannot help to sympathize with his on a few of his points. Unfortunately, his idea of: “walling up the country and defending it from within,” is a little wacky. Perhaps he is failing to recognize the strategic military advantage that the United States holds because of its foothold in locations throughout the world. I agree that the government should work harder to scale down the number of illegal immigrants in the country. I am uncertain on how exactly the born citizenship rule works in the United States, but it seems as if it may need a little tweaking if a child who is born to illegal immigrants is automatically a citizen of the United States. I guess if someone is on vacation here from Germany and they give birth that the child has dual-citizenship? Seems kind of odd.
[Reply]
Illegal Immigration; everyone complains about the dirty Mexicans and others who are polluting this country. However, I don’t see a single person complaining about the fruit on their table, or the clothes they are wearing. Yes, it seems as though people invading our country should not be allowed, but have you ever stepped on the other side of the spectrum? Have you ever tried to understand why they try to come here, and what they do keep this country running?
We are so lucky to be living in a country where we can say whatever we want with little restrictions, work wherever we want, pray to whoever we want, and be able to live happily knowing our children will live in the same society? We take everything we have for granted, even in the better off countries of the world no one can experience the same piece of mind that Americans can. So why wouldn’t someone want to come here, to provide for their children the same thing you want to provide to yours?
And here comes into play the Hypocrisy of everything the Americans say; they were the very first illegal immigrants. They came into this country and took over everything; they had no citizenship rights or anything. So really, everyone living in the United States is an illegal immigrant. So how can people, such as this man, say that we need to get rid of illegal immigration?
Let’s do a scenario, what if we got rid of every single illegal immigrant in the United States? What would happen? First off there would be no one to do the jobs that they do, such as picking strawberries in a field from dusk until dark for maybe a dollar a day. Who would take that job? Black people wouldn’t because they would feel as though they are going back to slavery, and white people? They are under the belief that they are too good to do those types of jobs. So what would happen? We would have no more fruit, the expenses on fruit would rise, and therefore Americans would stop buying it, and in turn buy more microwaveable meals that will make America and even more overweight country. And that’s just talking fruit.
Illegal immigrants come to the United States for the same reason the Europeans came to the United States, to find freedom, and to look for opportunities that would never be available to them where they come from. I am not condoning coming into this country illegally, because my family went through a long process to be immigrate here legally from Venezuela, however, I feel that sometimes many people speak without knowing where their words are coming from. So look at it from a new perspective and then see if eradicating illegal immigration would benefit you, the country, and those illegal aliens.

Recently there have been a lot of people like this popping up. At first, I found it easy to get riled up and angry at their opinions, calling them idiots and bigots. Then, the more news pieces and youtube videos I heard like this, it got to the point when I laughed and their apparent stupidity and thought of them as basically clowns that don’t know any better. However, I recently came to a revelation, and I think it goes along the lines of one of the larger themes of this sociology class. We talk a lot about how people are the products of their environments, for example, when Sam Richards talks about how if he were born in a different place to different parents, he would not be teaching at Penn State, for better or worse depending on his original position. It is absolutely impossible to tell how Sam, or any of us, would have turned out if we had this guys parents and upbringing, but I can say with certainty we would not be making a video of ourselves saying those things unless we were absolutely certain we were correct. This guy, and the people like him, are not saying these things because they want to be made fun of and yelled at by more “progressive” people. That man thinks, that beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is right. He is making the best decision with the information and experiences he has. Its easy to say he is ignorant, bigoted, and uneducated, but give the dude a break. We would be saying the same thing in his shoes, and if you’re saying you wouldn’t you are giving yourself too much credit.
Once we realize that they think they are right just as much as we are sure they are wrong, we can start to talk sensibly to each other and maybe make some progress. Yelling and calling each other morons doesn’t get us anywhere. That’s the biggest reason these Tea Party protests are backfiring for both sides. The tea partiers look like savages and those opposing them look like elitist wusses.
As slow as this guy sounds, he has a point. Our borders do need to be better watched. Its ridiculous that drug runners and terrorists could mosey into Texas with little problem. And there are legal immigration laws for a reason, and illegal immigration should be curbed. The guy makes a bit of sense, but his delivery and reasoning make him an easy target for ridicule by a few hundred college-educated “thinkers”. I think we should recognize that berating these people will not make them change their way of thinking. In fact it will probably solidify it.

I understand that immigration has cause an “inconvenience” to some people, but really c’mon. These people are coming to the US to find a better way of life. What happened to America is the land of the free and of the fair. If it is free then why do people have to speak English every second of their lives? If I want to speak Spanish I don’t want to feel like I’m doing something wrong. I am embracing my freedom. People really need to put their negativity aside and try to understand for once. There is no official language in the United States so why is it that just because English is the most spoken language that people have to speak it? When Spanish people become the majority, how would you feel if we wanted everyone to speak Spanish?

I think this guy is entitled to all his opinions but he is just an ignorant person. If he is really promoting this and saying “If you don’t speak English then get out” then he has to be asking for trouble. There have been immigrants in this country for years. This country was “founded” by Christopher Columbus but clearly the facts state that there were Native Americans here when he came here. So who is he o decide on who should be allowed to live here or not. I was born and raised here and though my parents are Nigerian they went to school here too and got a degree so I don’t support the causes to get rid of immigrants or have them conform to our society. This is supposed to be the land of the free which gives opportunities to all. I don’t see what the problem of immigration is.
