FAQs for Student Participants
WHAT IF THERE ARE NO OPENINGS WHEN I TRY TO SIGN UP?
There will be enough programs for each person in class (with a few extra seats). If there are no open programs when you attempt to register, check back later in the day or the next day. We don’t put all of the programs up at once and sometimes we overlook that the programs have filled. To avert any problems, however, sign up early and do not skip your program because there is NO GUARANTEE that you will find space on another day/time. If all of the programs on the web site are full or if you have a problem, contact Michelle Thiry, the RRP Program Coordinator: racerelationsproject@psu.edu or by phone at 814.865.5692
HOW DO I GET CREDIT FOR AN RRP PROGRAM?
You receive points toward your final grade when you complete an RRP program. To receive these points you must fill out a scan tron sheet that will be given to you by the RRP facilitators at the beginning of each program. We will submit the scan trons to your instructor.
DO I HAVE TO REGISTER FOR AN RRP PROGRAM THAT I PLAN TO ATTEND?
Yes, you must register for a program before you attend — even if it is at the last minute.
WHAT IF I HAVE TO MISS A PROGRAM FOR WHICH I AM REGISTERED?
If you cannot attend a program for which you have registered, remove yourself from the list by signing onto the registration page and going to the “My Sessions” section and click the “Unschedule” link. But remember, there are a limited number of seats available for your class. So you may NOT be able to make it up.
WHAT IF I AM LATE TO AN RRP PROGRAM (OR HAVE TO LEAVE EARLY)?
If you arrive more than 5 minutes late to the program, we will ask you to register for another session.
WHERE ARE THE ROOMS FOR RRP GROUPS?
All RRP groups take place in Pond Lab. This building is next to Oswald Tower which is next to the Burrowes Building (one of the buildings flanking the Pattee Library mall).
If you need more detailed information, consult a campus map: www.campusmaps.psu.edu/print
WHAT IF I HAVE ALREADY DONE AN RRP PROGRAM FOR ANOTHER CLASS?
Every conversation is different. So if you have the opportunity to experience an RRP program more than once, you’ll have the benefit of taking another step into the issues and learning more than you did the first time—by hearing the views of a new group of participants and hearing your own responses to new questions and scenarios that arise in the conversation.
So you may have more than one instructor that requires you to participate with the RRP in a single semester. Unless your instructors make an exception, you should plan to attend two programs. If your instructors allow you to use one RRP experience for two classes, you should plan to fill out two attendance sheets.
